On 1 April 2009, the Gas Safe Register took over the statutory gas registration scheme in Great Britain from CORGI.

HSE thanks CORGI and its staff for their commitment and contribution to improving gas safety over many years.

In the last decade, the number of people dying from gas related carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning has halved.  CORGI’s hard work has contributed much to this important achievement.

CORGI has also been active in the development of bodies such as the Gas Industry Alliance and the CO Awareness Alliance, which are doing important work on CO poisoning issues.

CORGI’s stated commitment to continue to promote good gas safety is welcomed by HSE, as of course are the interventions of others to that end.
