This is awarded for excellence in the following categories:

  • Communication with members, stakeholders, other health and safety organisations and the wider community;
  • The topics and speakers covered in our annual programme and events;
  • Support of the HSE and its strategy;
  • The encouragement of member retention and recruitment;
  • Achievements in 2013.

SOHSA's Alan Butler Awards 2013 Gold Award EmblemAll Entries are awarded an Alan Butler ‘Gold’, ‘Silver’ or ‘Bronze’ Award and this is the third recurrent year that SOHSA has been awarded a ‘Gold’ honour.

The award ceremony, held at the Houses of Parliament on Monday 27th January 2014 was attended by David Emblen and Chris Jerman of the Executive Committee, who collected the award on behalf of SOHSA. Congratulations to both the committee and members for their contributions to attaining this recognition.

Mark Wait, Chariman of SOHSA, was proud that the association was again recognised, commenting:

"SOHSA started its life in 1922 when iconic businesses of the great city of steel, Sheffield, launched the first regional safety association and now - 92 years later our members and committee continue their dedication to promoting sensible health and safety.

"It is fantastic to see this dedication, and the work of both the committee and our members, recognised through this prestigious award by SafetyGroupsUK and RoSPA".

Attendance at the awards is not only a great way to celebrate our success with Safety Groups UK but also a fantastic opportunity to network and form links with other members of like minded groups.
