SOHSA Conference 2010

Annual Sheffield Occupational Health and Safety Association Conference 2010

"Winning Hearts and Minds"

Tuesday, 12 October 2010
Tapton Hall, Sheffield

The 2010 Annual Sheffield Occupational Health and Safety Association Conference investigates how to win both hearts and minds through strong leadership and the development of a positive, evolving, safety culture and explaining the importance of achieving this buy-in in order to create a safe and healthy workplace.

Demonstrating what can go wrong, we will explore the lessons learnt following a workplace fatality - and how this brought about a distinct change in both management and safety culture; we will also hear from Jen Deeney who will explain how such a workplace fatality affects her life as a widow of a preventable workplace fatality.

Finally legal experts from Pinsent Masons LLP will explain how both of these cases would now be treated following the implementation of the Corporate Manslaughter act as its’ first case reaches trial.
