Joyrce Rudrum Obituary

Obituary by Philip Marsh with contributions from members of SOHSA.

We are sad to announce that Joyce Rudrum passed away on 16th May 2009. Joyce was an Occupational Health Nurse at Stanton Ironworks. Joyce was an active and highly valued member of SOHSA since 1993 and had served on the committee from 1995 until 2008. In 2008 the committee and members of the association were proud to elect Joyce as a Lifetime Member of the association.

Regularly attending meetings with Jean Headleand, together they were responsible for launching the Annual Nurses Study Day which has since grown into the Annual SOHSA Conference, a prestigious annual event which serves as a lifeline to local businesses in raising awareness and sharing knowledge in the field of occupational health and safety.

Joyce will be sadly missed, she was an active member of the committee and one of the first women to serve. Her commitment and enthusiasm for promoting Occupational Health in the workplace has inspired many and she has helped countless members of the association through her dedication and hard-work.

Joyce successfully conquered her battle against cancer over the past four years, but recently suffered from tiredness due to a salt deficiency which could not be treated. Joyce passed away peacefully in her sleep after being admitted to hospital.

Our condolences to Joyce’s family, friends and work colleagues - Joyce will be missed by all who knew her.
