I've been tasked with designing a site safety display board, the sort you see at site entrances, (construction sites in particular).

Does anyone have any photos of good examples that I can take ideas from?

Thanks.

Hi Bill

I've always used a guy called Paul Rodgers at Digital Signworld. He's only a one man band operation and quite cheap.

He's actually come down to site designed things up for me and then superimposed them onto the wall so I can see the effect.

If you give him a call I'm sure he'll have a few examples that he could show you

Have you tried contacting Arco, Arden Winch or Approved Safety Products all of whom I think do safety signs many of which you can buy off the peg.

If you need contact details they can all be found by putting in the relevant name on an internet search engine.

Tracey,

Thanks for your reply. I realise I haven't really made my original post clear. What I'm looking for is examples of the safety information boards that companies display (usually at the entrance to their sites) which convey information about their safety performance, (number of days/hours since last Lost Time accident) and values.
It's not that I can't design one for that purpose, but I'm told we want 'something better', and since there aren't many large companies or construction sites around Doncaster, I don't have anything on my doorstep to take inspiration from.

Thanks.

No problem - unfortunately I cannot help you in that respect as I am not based in or around Doncaster.

Hi Bill

Can't really help you on that one sorry. I would still talk to Paul at Digital Signworld. He could bespoke something up for you to look at.

It's a place to start

All the best

Mark

Bill, personally I hate these things, BUT if you are going to go for one, then my advice is to make it DIFFERENT.

Put something on there that makes people look, giggle, frown whatever. Number of days since last blah blah. Boring. No one reads it and anyway when you have an accident it then says number of days since last accident = 2! It only looks good when it says 100.

What about "things to watch out for today' and keep it current to what's happening inside the building. Examples of good stuff that has been captured. Real people doing things. 'How we behave on this site' or 'how to shop a contractor' OK maybe not that one. But don't fill it with signs especially ones that are pointless and never get followed. Why do signs have to be written like they came from a legal dept.

"Have a safe shift - go home will all your bits!" is so much better than 'No PPE no job" we have to stop threatening people. I don't like negative images, but if you have someone in a pic acting unsafely you could have "What would his Missus say?" 'Who's going to mow the lawn when he's in hospital?"

Just be creative and don't follow the herd. We will then look forward to seeing your presentation at the meeting on what you did and how successful it was!

Best wishes

Chris
