Over the last year, the committee has had numerous requests for practical support from its members. Following some discussion, we would like to be able to run some workshops at Tapton Hall. Some of the topics for these workshops could include:
Writing effective safe systems of work and work instructions
Getting to grips with basic risk assessment
Designing a simple safety management system
Understanding the requirements of safety legislation for managers
These could be run in a variety of formats - one in the morning and a different one in the afternoon, or a repeat of one session am and pm. These would be at a nominal cost, probably less than a round in the pub and would be open to members and non members alike.
We would like to hear from anyone with even a remote interest in coming OR in helping to run the sessions. The advice given will be tried and tested and not some theoretical nonsense. The idea will be to go away wiser then when you arrived, ready to 'get it done' when you get back to work.
So come on folks, support the Association and get some real help for a change. If there is sufficient interest for this - it WILL happen. If there is a session that you would like to see, then add it to your reply.
See you all there!
Chris Jerman
Honourary Chairman

44 views and no responses? Come on people, say something. Anything. Talk to us.
We may even put on bacon sandwiches. That has to tempt someone out!

I'd like to attend any and or all the subjects you put on the list, hopefully they will help me improve upon what I am already doing.

Totally agree Geoff. All the above stated ones that you have put down Chris are a good starting point. Our problem is that we tend to get so bogged down in our own little worlds that we don't think about change or making the process simpler or easier
This was one point that Chris was keen to run during his term in office but due to work constraints never had the oportunity. Thanks for bringing this forward again Chris
Lets hope the membership see the value and give us some constructive directions and routes to go down. Don't forget you guests out there. If there is anything you think we should be considering
