Here's hoping someone can help!!!

Could someone clarify for me which regulations clinical waste, eg. sharps and used swabs from a dental practice would come under. I am aware of the need for 'yellow bags' and sharp boxes but am I correct in thinking it is the The Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005, and if so do the dental practices need to be registered as producers.

Any information on the above would be appreciated.

Thanks

A useful document giving guidance about clinical waste is Health Technical Memorandum 07-01 - Safe Management of Healthcare Waste. This is available to download from the Department of Health Website.
