The 2008 Annual Sheffield Occupational Health & Safety Association Conference is quickly approaching and will be held on Tuesday, 14th October 2008 at Tapton Hall, Sheffield. At only £75 this conference should not be missed.

Health and Safety is often seen as an added cost and burden to your business, in fact it should be the opposite. This year, we intend to help put you on the right track to make Health & Safety a valuable business tool and tell you:

* how the HSE can help your business;
* how to defend against claims and reduce your insurance premiums;
* common pitfalls in defense claims;
* the purpose of risk assessment and how to sell the safety message to your workforce and management.

We will have presentations from the HSE to let you know what they look for and the types of advice they can give to the SME. The Legal side will be addressed by a firm of Solicitors and will let you know the common pitfalls in Employer Liability defence, whilst the insurance industry will tell you what you can do to protect your business, the common failures in defence of claims and how you may be able to reduce your premiums.

Take this opportunity to see how good H&S practice can help your business and make use of the expertise within the SOHSA. In fact why not become a member and develop your business H&S awareness on a regular basis.

A buffet lunch will be provided, during which there will be the opportunity to network with colleagues in a wide range of local industries and view our range of exhibitors, selected for their products and services. After lunch we will resume with a fresh look at the purpose of risk assessment – working out where you stand and building the foundations.

Our final session will be about communication – getting the message across to managers.

Take this opportunity to see how good H&S practice can help your business and make use of the expertise within the SOHSA. In fact why not become a member and develop your business H&S awareness on a regular basis.
