SOHSA chairman Mark Wait was delighted to hand over a cheque for £500 to Yorkshire Air Ambulance, at their Annual General Meeting held on 13 March 2012. The donation was made following a successful conference in November 2011.   Yorkshire Air Ambulance operates two helicopters which can be airborne within 2 minutes, flying as speeds of up to 140 mph.  Wherever the helicopter lands within Yorkshire there is a hospital within 10 minutes flying time.  This means that injured patients can be taken quickly and smoothly to specialist care – it is this swift medical intervention that has a major impact on a patient’s chance of survival and recovery.   In a letter to SOHSA Yorkshire Air Ambulance stated:   “It is the goodwill, sponsorship and charitably donations that keep this vital service flying and therefore,  we are extremely grateful for all your support – without the generosity of people such as yourselves we would be unable to continue this valuable work.”
